A new navigation season is inaugurated at the Port of Montreal


The OOCL Belgium, flying the Hong Kong flag, captained by Steven Lloyd, became the first ocean-going vessel to reach the Port of Montreal without a stopover in 2010 by crossing the Port of Montreal's downstream limits at Sorel at 00:51 January 1st.


 
January 1st 2010, Ms Sylvie Vachon, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Montreal Port Authority (MPA), welcomed Captain Steven Lloyd, Master of the OOCL Belgium, and his crew.
 
 

 

The 171th Gold-Headed Cane Ceremony


 
January 4, Ms Sylvie Vachon, inaugurated a new year of activity at the Port of Montreal by presenting the Gold-Headed Cane to Captain Steven Lloyd, Master of the OOCL Belgium, the first ocean-going vessel to enter the Port of Montreal in 2010.

The 2010 edition of the Gold-Headed Cane was the 171th ceremony since the inception of this tradition in 1840.
